Throughout the calendar, take note of the colored stars next to the event listings. Blue stars mark events that are reserved for AAW participants only. Red stars indicate events joined with other groups that consist of co-ed participants.

Carpooling will be available for some events. We encourage you to call early to reserve your place. All we ask is that you contribute for gas. If you are willing to carpool, please let us know. We appreciate the help! Other than that, get ready to have some awesome fun and adventure!

Systema Russian Self Defense for Women

  • Can you imagine being able to RELAX and survive in a crisis moment? It is possible.

    Join us for a unique way of learning self defense without striking, using strict forms or preprogrammed responses like many other martial arts styles.

    "Systema" is based on a system including four tenets: breathing, relaxation, proper body positions and movements.

    Our instructor Dave Reeman who is a Level 2 Shiatsu Instructor and teaching Systema for 2 years will show you how to use natural body movements and intuitive responses to not only survive, but how you can apply these techniques to every aspects of your life. Russian Self defense is the most humane self defense program out there.

    Get ready to roll, duck, fall and just move your body while having fun. It is easy to learn and anyone can become proficient. No previous martial arts experience is necessary.
  • Bring: Bring water and wear comfy clothing. Recommend long hair to be tied back.

Home Repairs 911 For Women by Women

  • Ladies, STOP paying the handyman and save your money for Awesome Adventures. HIP Chicks will teach you how to save money, prevent costly repairs and have fun being empowered homeowners. Yes, there are plenty of DIY (do it yourself) tasks for apartment and condo dwellers to know too. We gals will have fun tackling loose towel bars, carpet stains, jammed garbage disposals, doors that won't latch, nail pops and more. I myself can certainly use some of these lessons. I'm sure you have towel a bar or TP bar hanging loose, if not, needed someone to look at your garbage disposal! HIP Chicks builds smart,capable and confident women, one project at time! Beth Allen, founder of HIP Chicks has been featured on Saving with 6abc, NBC 10! Show and NBC Consumer reports. You will be inspired by her awesome skills and great personality. These are popular workshops, so don't wait til the last minute to register. No refunds, but may be applied toward a future AAW event.

SAVE THE DATE: Winter Extravaganza!

  • Start learning about the 24 Eskimo dogs, their lives and how they LOVE what they do. We will rotate through three events. Meet, greet and take photos with the dogs. Mush a pack of 6-8 beautiful husky's, as well as experience what it is like being in the basket of the sled. You can cross country ski and try snowshoeing in this wintery wonderland. Afterward, join us at the "Inn at the Pocono Manor" just up the road for a wonderful lunch buffet, included in price, except soda. Bring your bathing suit and/or workout clothes and try out the Inn's amenities. You can change into dry, warm clothes there as well. If that's not enough, there is also ice skating and shopping at the nearby Crossings Premuim Outlets at own cost and time. Consider staying over night for a discounted rate of $119.00 plus tax. Regulary $159.00. If you are, please make own reservations and let them know it is for the Awesome Adventure Women group per Carolyn.

Jack Frost Fifth Annual

  • February is Jack Frost Breast Cancer Awareness month. This event benefits Susan G Komen For The Cure, Northeastern PA. 75% net proceeds stay local to help provide health care to underserved and uninsured women and men in Northern, PA. And as in the past, Jack Frost will also donate a percentage of lift ticket sales sold at this event.

    Events of the day:
    • JFBB "Pink Olympic" timed race gates ($5.00 donation)
    • "Dedication Run" for everyone who wants to ski or tube for the cure in memory of those who lost their battle to breast cancer, those in treatment and for breast cancer survivors.
    • Photo time for all participants

    • Raffle Prizes galore to be given away from equipment to getaways and activities

April 2012 Events

We're going International, Baja Island

  • This spring, get out of the snow and cold and join us on our 3rd annual women’s adventure to the Sea of Cortez in southern Baja.

    This adventure is 8-sun-filled days and 7-starry nights of action-packed outdoor experiences. Learn to snorkel with marine life including a colony of 400 wild sea lions and among fish-filled coral reefs. Paddle a kayak through natural rock formations at sunset. Trek the pristine desert, see and learn about plants several hundred years old. Unwind on the beach as you share stories and laughter with new friends over with chef-prepared meals under billions of stars.

    A $200.00 deposit due upon sign-up. The deposit will be applied towards the cost of your trip. You may pay the whole balance up front, but please note: A second payment of $200.00 is due February 1, 2012, a 3rd payment of $875.00 is due March 1, 2012 and a fourth and final payment of $875.00 is due on April 1, 2012. You will receive an electronic confirmation letter indicating your amount paid, balance due, and payment schedule 3-5 business days after your registration. These amounts are non-refundable, but MAY be transferable for the same value and program date to a another participant by April 1, 2012. Some restrictions apply.

    Participants are highly encouraged to purchase travel insurance to cover their investment.
